What are Implant Dentures?
Missing teeth left untreated can also cause your cheeks to look sunken and hollow and it makes talking more difficult. Implant dentures provide you with a fantastic alternative if you don’t feel like regular traditional dentures are the thing for you.
Implant dentures can address issues that many experience with traditional dentures. They are fixed in place when worn and won’t fall out when you chew, speak, or laugh. They are implanted with a titanium screw that is fused into the jawbone to replace the tooth root. Your dentist will make a small opening in your jawbone where they then place the implant. After this, they stitch the site up. They repeat this for every implant in your mouth. This becomes a solid foundation for a replacement tooth or denture appliance.
There are two types of implant dentures. These are:
Removable Implant Dentures These dentures are secured using implants but are still removable when needed. They are typically smaller than traditional dentures and are less expensive than permanent implant dentures. You may need a removal tool to take them out, but will remain stable in your mouth when you wear them again. No more worrying about them feeling loose!
Fixed Implant Dentures These are also known as “permanent dentures”. These dentures are permanently attached to your implants and are also smaller than traditional dentures. Due to them being fixed in place, food doesn’t get beneath them while you eat, which means cleaning them is similar to taking care of your natural teeth. They need to be flossed and brushed on a regular basis.

Cleaning Your Dentures after EatingRemove your dentures and be very careful with them, have a towel near by so the dentures will not break if you drop them. Do NOT bend or play around with the clasps or damage the acrylic. Next, use a denture brush, water and soap to gently brush your dentures. do NOT use toothpaste, as this will scratch the wear down the denture.
-
Cleaning Your Gums or Natural Teeth after EatingDaily cleaning of your mouth is very important to prevent build up of plaque, food and calculus. Do NOT use a denture cleaner inside your mouth; instead use a soft toothbrush on natural teeth and gauze or a soft toothbrush to clean your gums, cheeks, tongue and roof of your mouth. Then, use mouth wash to rinse out your mouth.

Soaking Your Dentures OvernightMost types of dentures need to stay moist to keep their shape. Place the dentures in water or denture- soaking solution overnight. Cleaning tabs or powder can be mixed with water and placed into the denture bath with the denture overnight. We Recommend NovaDent Denture Cleaner and Renew Denture Cleaner.
